I am a self taught artist and my interest in art began at a young age (a long, long time ago).
I was always looking for new things to try so back in 2014 when I stumbled across a website featuring a form of 3D resin art (I think I was googling brushes at the time) I knew I just had to give it a try. The process involves painting on layer after layer of resin to create artwork with a perception of depth and realism. It is a time consuming process as each layer of resin has a minimum of 24 hours drying time and there are at least 8 layers in each piece. There has been a lot of blood, sweat and tears (well okay no blood) along the way but I learn a little more with each piece. I love creating my 3D artworks and watching them gradually come to life. I believe there are very few artists in Australia creating this type of artwork so it is something that is very unique and out of the ordinary. |
How long have you been creating your artwork? I have always been either drawing or painting something since I was very young. I started painting pet portraits and rocks (check out my other profile page for Stone and Canvas Portraits) many years ago but only began experimenting with 3D resin art in 2014. How did you get started? As I was always painting something I began to accumulate a lot of artwork so I decided to try selling my work at markets and offering a pet portrait commission service as well. It took off pretty well and eventually evolved into a little business. What is your greatest inspiration? Animals of all kinds. Their depth of beauty and soul inspires me to try and capture that in my painting. I just love them all! What is the greatest challenge to owning and operating your own business? As with many artists, the main challenge would be marketing my work. I am not very good at selling myself so this is always a challenge for me. |
