Studio Swoon

Born in the Czech Republic, Simona is the gold and silversmith behind contemporary jewellery label Studio Swoon. Having lived in Australia since she was a young girl, one of Simona's fondest childhood memories is of listening to Cicadas chirping on warm summer evenings.

Simona trained as a gold and silversmith at Melbourne's RMIT, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art. She has won several major awards in her field, and has trained internationally in specialised jewellery modalities.

You may even remember seeing Simona's work featured in Lord of the Rings promos, Absolut Vodka campaigns, and Range Rover television commercials!

How long have you been making jewellery?
Almost 20 years now.

How did you get started?
I completed a silversmithing course at TAFE, followed by a Fine Arts degree in goldsmithing at RMIT in Melbourne.

What is your greatest inspiration?
The natural world. Organic forms can be found in many of my designs.

What is the greatest challenge to owning and operating your own business?
All businesses go through tough times, no matter the industry. Stick with it, do what you love, and eventually all your hard work will pay off.

What is the best thing about owning your own creative business?
The freedom that comes with working for oneself.
