Resourceful Living
My name is Jess Hodge and together with my husband Geoff we began the business Resourceful Living, a way to change the way we view ‘recycled’ products.
I have a background in communications and Geoff has a BA of Mechanical, Sustainable and Materials Engineering. Together with our background and a passion to change the way we treat single-use plastic, we set out to find a sustainable solution to environmental plastic burden. We wanted an approach which provided plastic a second, third, even up to a tenth life, as an alternate product to waste. Not just containers and small items, but big home or office features, such as tables, chairs, cupboards, wardrobes or even kitchen benchtops, which can employ lots of waste plastic perfectly! We hope you love our products and feel good knowing you are making a difference! |
Facebook: facebook.com/resourcefulliving Instagram: instagram.com/resourcefulliving Web: resourcefulliving.com.au How long have you been making recycled plastic products? We first began in August of 2021. How did you get started? We collected our own plastic waste and started to play around with textures, designs and colours. What is your greatest inspiration? Giving beauty and use to a material that is so often thrown away after one use. However, plastic hangs around for roughly 450 years, so let us give it more than one use. What is the greatest challenge to owning and operating your own business? Not having enough hours in the day! I always come up with more variations, but having the time to trial everything… I think I need a few more hours! What is the best thing about owning your own creative business? I spend every single day living my best life. Not only do I get to be creative and give plastic alternative uses but as I look at my young family I know I am trying my hardest to give them a planet where people are conscious of the materials and products they purchase. |
