How long have you been making felt?
Just over 14 years How did you get started? Starting small, and by realising that people like what I make and that I LOVED to make. And I can’t keep them all, can I? What is your greatest inspiration? That is a difficult thing to answer. Felt breaks down over time, there are few examples of these kinds of fabrics found in prehistoric sites but it has been a part of our evolutionary survival, most nomadic tribes use felt and have a passed this knowledge on. I reflect on what has been created and lost over time, what beautiful things people have made across the world, the different hands throughout our history moving the fibres around, what they would have been expressing. I feel my soul is somehow tapping into this amazing progression of knowledge, this one of my inspirations. What is the greatest challenge to owning and operating your own creative business? Time, momentum, prioritizing you and family, and consistent effort. What is the best thing about owning your own creative business? Freedom, flexibility, loving what you do and finding ways to become even better at it. |
