FAQ's
How does The Handmade Exchange website work?
We are an online gallery and marketplace dedicated to supporting independent artists by promoting unique handmade and fair trade products.
Each of our artists has their own profile on our website, which includes a gallery of their past and current work.
How does your Facebook market work?
Once a month we hold an online market on our Facebook page in which more than a dozen of our featured artists offer a selection of their pieces at special market prices! We announce the date of the next market a couple of weeks in advance, and on the night you simply have to write SOLD beneath the photo of any item you wish to purchase at the discount price. We then email you a Paypal invoice & voila! - a gorgeous new piece is all yours!
How do I find things on the site?
Each of our artists are categorized under a specific category, eg. "Clothing and Footwear" and there are handy little tabs for each of these categories across the top of our website. If you hover over the tab (without clicking) a drop-down menu will appear, from which you can select to visit a specific artist's profile. You can also click on any of the photos on our homepage that feature images of work by our artists. Clicking on one of these images will also take you to the artist's profile.
Our blog features lots of interesting posts with insightful info - well worth checking out! Click here to visit out blog.
What are your delivery costs?
Each of our artists ship their products out themselves (rather than us sending them from head office), so each product has a shipping cost attached. However, if you purchase multiple items from the same artist the cost of shipping will be combined (so you don't pay for shipping twice!).
Our artists try their very best to keep shipping costs down.
How long does delivery take?
Unless specified as "made to order" your purchase will usually be shipped within 4 days of receipt of payment. Depending you where you live, it can take up to three weeks for your goodies to land safely in your mailbox.
Only half my order has turned up, where’s the rest?
Each seller you purchased from will deliver their products directly to you, so you’ll receive several parcels if you have bought from several sellers, and they will likely arrive on different days.
